The Office of Marketing & Communications in The Grainger College of Engineering seeks applicants for a Frontend UI Developer position. This position will work with the Marketing & Communications team, in collaboration with college departments and units, to create, design and maintain original interactive web pages, assets and experiences needed to build and maintain The Grainger College of Engineering and support its strategic goals.
This position will manage and prioritize web design requests, implement solutions using a proprietary Content Management System (CMS), and ensure the entire college web presence meets accessibility and brand standards for the college and university.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Web Development and Design
Develop, implement, and maintain engaging and interactive designs within a content management system.
Develop and update sections for use across the college website ecosystem.
Collaborate closely with web developer(s), marketing communications and technical staff on UI/UX and other frontend components of web projects and assets.
Publish content provided by college communications personnel to the web.
Create, design and troubleshoot webpage layouts, graphics, and templates
Ensure compliance of college websites with accessibility (WCAG) standards, and college and university design standards
Create rich user experiences through compelling user interface design and implementation
Create and implement branded photo and art assets for the web that align with the college brand and all multimedia materials
Perform varied creative work that is somewhat difficult or ambiguous in nature, requiring some evaluation, originality and/or ingenuity
Work closely and collaboratively with creative team members, and the associate creative director, to design consistently branded and styled digital assets
Review, edit, and modify submitted material, as well as creating original content
Stay abreast of trends in online communication and integrate these appropriately to sustain the college’s cutting-edge web presence
Internal Support/Customer Service
Provide guidance and assistance to college staff on the design, development and maintenance of unit websites.
Help support and train users with web-based tools for content submission
Adhere to technical, branding, and style standards established by the college Office of Marketing and Communications; leverage these standards to advance the college’s strategic priorities.
Quickly adapt to a rapidly changing environment
Other duties as assigned
Work with other college and partner units on the design and maintenance of websites for promotion, recruitment, retention, alumni outreach, fundraising, and general reputation building purposes, as well as day-to-day operations of the college.
Minimum Qualifications:
Three (3) years of progressively more responsible work experience in an Information Technology (IT) related profession in web design (html, css, and/or javascript). College course work which included Information Technology (IT), IT Management, or a closely related discipline may be substitut…
