Recreation Specalist

Massapequa Center Rehabilitation & Nursing is committed to improving our patients’ quality of life & autonomy through innovative rehabilitative services, and an exceptional level of client-centered care and attention. We are seeking Full-Time & Part-Time enthusiastic and dedicated Therapeutic Recreation Specalists to join our interdisciplinary team of skilled health care professionals at our skilled nursing facility in Amityville!

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Help set up and breakdown of recreation activities.
• Assist in execution of recreational activities.
• Help transport wheelchair bound residents to various activities throughout the building.
• Participating in resident centered events such as birthdays, bingo, trivia, crafts and a variety of other group activities.
• Encourage Residents to participate in appropriate activities.
• Ensure that Residents have activities to occupy their free time.
• Documentation of program attendance, participation, care plans and MDS daily for assigned unit(s)
• Complete Therapeutic Recreation assessments upon admission for STC/LTC residents
• Create resident specific care plan goals and interventions and re-evaluates as needed.
• Assist in training of all staff, supervise volunteers.
• Attend and participate in weekly team care plan meeting.
• Perform all duties as requested by the Recreation Director.

• Positive, cheerful and helpful attitude.
• Creative with attention to detail
• Weekend and holiday availability.
• Prior recreation, LTC or healthcare experience preferred.
• Knowledge and experience with documentation (MDS, Sigma Care) a plus
